What is a wild and raw honey

And why we believe wild and raw honeys are the best in commerce

The honeys produced by Asphodel are all produced from natural wild plants and therefore not from intensive agriculture. This makes them very special honeys and certainly different from the honeys that are often found on the market and that come from intensive agriculture blooms such as, for example, honeys that often come from orange groves or orchards that first serve the fruit market point

Our honeys, on the other hand, coming from wild spontaneous blooms are organic by nature and have the main characteristic of always being different from year to year from position to point position.

In terms of taste thay are also very different and their external appearance changes a lot from year to year too: this is the case, for example, of the asphodel honey which last year was a very light honey while this year it is a particularly dark honey.

The tastes of honeys therefore change not only due to the fact that bees go to get nectar from different flowers but also from the fact that from one year to the next the flowers themselves, despite being of the same type, can change their flavor. due to changes in temperature and humidity and all the characteristics of the weather that can occur during a year of blooms.

Furthermore, the fact that our productions come from spontaneous blooms ensures their goodness, taste, taste and quality. All our honeys (asphodel,  eucalyptus,, mediterranean bush, bramble, lavender, strawberry tree and thistle)  all come from natural blooms that follow one another starting from late winter on asphodel honey (February/March) until October with the flowering of the strawberry tree.

Furthermore, our code of conduct does not allow our beekeepers to feed the bees, in fact this is a practice widely used by beekeepers in the most difficult moments in the life of bees, but which is not allowed in Asphodel. In fact we believe that Sardinia is a particularly favorable territory for the life of bees and we are convinced that thanks to the particularly favorable climatic characteristics there is no need to feed the bees in order to make them survive. In fact, we are certain, also from our common experience that by working well with bees throughout the year and carefully guarding them, we can guarantee a healthy and balanced life for our bees and therefore a healthy and tasty production of our honeys and all our products.
